Gavin's job allows him to work from home once a week. It is super nice to have this work from home day for him because it's another day Nala has someone home and when I am home, it is nice to hang out with him. Today, he is home and we are just hanging out while he is working. Honestly at this point, I could not tell you what he does... HAHA I keep looking at his screen and I just get more and more confused the more he works. Im glad he understand it all. So we will be having a very chill day.
Dear teachers,
We picked our careers because we love helping overs, guiding children to become amazing adults, and the pure joy we get when we are in schools. We did not sign up for the constant worry of mass shooting in schools. We did not sign up for the constant worry about the best strategy to protect our students from armed intruders. We did not sign up to lose our lives on the job (Yes, I understand, I chose teaching knowing that there is always a possibility of something happening; however, mass shootings are happening at an alarming rate). We signed up to teach. We signed up to bring joy into lives as we educate the future. We should not have to worry about what to do in emergencies that involve people getting killed. We should only have to worry about providing the best educational experiences we can and making sure we are prepared to teach. I am just blown away that over the years, mass shootings have increased tremendously and yet we have to stay "brave". Something needs to change. Napping, I have wrote about it once and I will write about it again! I love napping. Honestly, the more sleep I get, the better of a person I am lol! Now that I am on spring break, my daily 30 minute naps are back and I am loving it. My family always jokes around that I am sleeping beauty because of how much I truly enjoy sleep. Oh well. I think 30 minute naps are perfect because they reset your body halfway through the day!
One thing about me is I love shopping and getting new clothes. I, however, do not like getting rid of clothes. So, today was the day to go through my closet and decide what clothes I can keep and what clothes I should donate. Holy smokes, I have 3 huge bags full of clothes! I found some shirts that I thought I lost a long time ago. I can finally move the hangers in the closet instead of using all my strength to get another thing in there. It took all morning, but I feel super accomplished!
Today, my cousin is having her birthday party. She turned 9 a few days ago. This year, instead of buying a gift, I wanted to have a day/experience with her. She picked bowling, dinner, and dessert. So we did that all yesterday. Bowling was super fun as I have not gone in years. Anyways, today at the party, there is going to be over 25 people in one normal sized house. I am a little nervous on how we are all going to fit... LOL It should be a super fun party for the kids though!
Today, Gavin and I were able to create our wedding invitations! I am so excited because we were able to specifically design and pick out each element. Who knew it was so much work to create an invitation for a wedding. They asked some questions I did not even think about! We were at the store for about an hour and half. When we left, all we could is getting the proof and just LOVING it.
Our wedding does not have a specific theme; however, it has hints of Disney. The one thing that both Gavin and I agreed on is having a Disney themed invitation. I know, super weird and doesn't make sense, but we just love the idea of expressing our love of Disney in some way. We are super excited! My students are loving use tech in all subject areas. Today, the day before spring break, I was trying to think go something fun to do that was also educational. So, I had my students use Kami to create a chart for math notes. Then, they screen captured their work and used it as a background to a flip video! They explained their reasoning of the math in the videos and really had fun expressing themselves! We have been using these tech tools all year; however, seeing them use it all to create one project was so cool! I have never seen so many students engaged in taking math notes! Teacher win on last minute thinking!
The kids have a lot of assessments as we are approaching Spring Break. They have reading, writing and math assessments all week. So, today after we did one assessment, we took the time to relax and celebrate our thinking. They were given some options; talk with friends, color, games, etc. I was sitting at my table with the group that decided to color. HOLY SMOKES... All my worries went away during that coloring time. Now, I knew beforehand I enjoyed coloring; however, I never have time to do it. I am so happy that I joined the coloring students today. Makes me feel like I can take on the rest of the day!
Have you ever heard of "The Moth" radio or podcast? If not, I highly suggest it. It is real life people, going on stage to an open mic and telling stories. Each time they have an event, there is a theme. Last night, I went to watch it and the theme was clumsy. Anyone from the audience has a chance to be pulled for the open mic, if you put your name in. 10 of the names get a chance to share their story. Then, the judges, selected at random in the audience get to give them a score.
Last night was amazing! The stories I heard made me laugh, cry, and feel every other emotion you can think of. I plan on going again next month and then going to the grand slam! So cool! |
