I hate cooking, I hate the idea of knowing and deciding what to make every single day. Dinner is my enemy most nights. However, since the new year started, I have made it a goal to cook a proper breakfast every Saturday morning. Yes, I understand breakfast is not dinner BUT I have really enjoyed making it! I think I hate cooking so much because I always have to do it after a LONG day of work. When it's Saturday morning, I am refreshed from the night, not on a time limit and honestly it is SUPER easy to make. Plus, I can do it in my PJ's! So, even though it's still a struggle to cook, I enjoy cooking on Saturday mornings :)

So once to twice a month, my grandma hosts a book club at the house. So it is the perfect excuse to have a date night with Gavin. Now, Gavin is stuck in his ways and loves going to the same restaurants... which is fine; however, tonight I was able to get him to try a new place! We went to Chiba in Darien. It's a Japanese restaurant and we ordered the hibachi dinner. He LOVED it. Said he would 10/10 go back for dinner again. Even though it is only 7:00, I feel like it was a successful date night. Time to binge our favorite shows and hang out in the room while book club discussion happens!
7 AM: All 4th grade students board a bus

It was the first time I have been on the 4th Grade Springfield trip... It was great! The students had lots of fun and enjoyed the day; however, I am one tired teacher that is not looking forward to getting up tomorrow morning... LOL It's a Wednesday night of one of the most busy weeks I have; so, what do I do? Oh yeah... that's right, I decide to have a virtual meeting with a stylist about what suits and colors would best fit my Fiancé and the wedding. One might say that I am crazy for scheduling a meeting on a busy week night; however, I am going to say I am crazy for trying to buy suits for the whole wedding party online!
We have heard great things about this website called "Modern Groom". We have heard about it from people, social media, and decided to give it a try. One great thing about this website is the men get to own their suite instead of renting, so everything is completely customizable. I think this is great because I have been to plenty of weddings where men were uncomfortable because they rented their suits and could only alter so much. Also, the price of renting VS buying is less than $100. So why not give it a try? Fingers cross that my Fiancé suit comes in and looks great... otherwise, back to the drawing board! So, if you haven't noticed... I am a little obsessed with my dog, Nala. Every Tuesday, she goes to Doggie Daycare to socialized and run off some energy. I LOVE the daycare that she attends. It took a few different places but we have found the best fit for her. The employee's know her by name, knows what she likes, and who she best gets along with at the center. My favorite part about this daycare is getting picture updates of Nala throughout the day. Every time I get a photo, she is playing, sitting with a doggie smile, or getting some love from an employee. Here are the pictures from today!
So the last few weeks, I have been trying to get small wedding items check off my list. Some of the items that are on the list is gifts for bridesmaids, groomsmen, and family. I honestly love giving gifts to people. I have been searching and thinking of the "just right" gift. Some of the family members and the bridesmaids have been super easy to shop for. However, the groomsmen are a different story. My Fiancé and his groomsmen are just simply goofy (haha). So every time I think I have found something cool, I show my Fiancé and he likes it, but doesn't love it. So here I am, yet again, searching the internet to find something for them. Any suggestions on what to get a goofy group of guys?
What a great weekend it has been with the weather! Both Saturday and Sunday, we just needed light jackets. Honestly, I am so ready for spring and summer. I love going places and being outdoors. Today, we went to the Oak Brook mall and took a look around. We were not at the mall long, but it was still nice to get out and not be cooped up in the house. Then we got an early dinner. Honestly a great way to spend a Sunday before going back to work.
So every weekend since December, Gavin and I looked at potential houses to buy. At first, it was a great start! We even got to the inspection on one house; however, since we had to walk away, we have had trouble! It was very disappointing in the beginning; however, I had to change my mindset to positive. I just keep telling myself that we will find the perfect house for us and it will come before the wedding. Every weekend we see houses, I am shocked that they need so much repair with the budget we have. At this point, we go to the houses with open minds, and eventually we just laugh it off and tell our Realtor "See you next weekend!". Honestly, he is great and just can laugh with us. He has given great advice and even takes serious looks at the house. He points out the great potential the house has and then how much work it would take to make it a great house. Open mind=great opportunities to see more houses!
Today, we had a short day at work.... which I am not complaining about! So I was able to get home around 2:30. It was nice to just be home and hang out with Nala (my pup). Normally, Friday nights are family pizza nights; however, a good friend of mine was having a small get together for his birthday. It was a good time. He seemed super happy and enjoyed having friends over. The night ended pretty early. Overall, it was a good day. After writing and reading some blogs, it is time for some mindless tiktok videos until I fall asleep. I hope everyone else had a great day! :)
This week has been chaos! We have been doing so much. Today, alone, we switched our schedules around, had a special guest reader, final class of "Building a Thinking Classroom", and PTO's skate night! Just thinking about it makes me tired, but I made it. Day completed! The kids had so much fun with the special guest reader and seeing me at skate night. After really tough weeks, what keeps me going is seeing the kids each morning with their smiles and the hugs! Honestly, seeing the great relationships I have with the kids reminds me each day why I chose this profession.
Also, if you have not heard of or read "Building a Thinking Classroom", I highly recommend it. Truly, I did not realize how little changes could make such a huge improvement on my students' mathematical thinking. LOVE IT! :) |
